With direct flights to Oxford International Airport from many different destinations in Europe, Oxford is particularly busy during the summer months, when the weather in Oxford is very warm. Many people travel to Oxford during the winter months, to enjoy Oxford's Christmas festivities and to do their Christmas shopping in Oxford's numerous shopping centres.

Oxford is at its quietest from January to mid-March, when the weather is at its coldest, and this is probably the only time when hotels in the Oxford area reduce their hotel rates in an attempt to attract more tourists to the city of Oxford.
